Morrisons has officially opened its newly enlarged vegetable and fruit packing plant in the Netherlands.
Bos Brothers Fruit and Vegetables BV is now housed in an ultra-modern 15,500 sqm unit, in the Hook of Holland. As reported in the Journal last month, the facility has been expanded to cope with increased volume driven by the Morrisons takeover of Safeway group.
The operation was officially opened by Sir Ken Morrison, the chairman of Hook of Holland Council, Theo Van Eijke, and Cees van den Bos previous owner of Bos Brothers.
It features 21 production lines to pack, label, shrink-wrap or bag capsicum and cucumber as well as exotic vegetables and speciality tomatoes.
The facility handles more than 1,000 tonnes a week and employs 200 people.
