Turkish producers were celebrating successes at Fruit Logistica last week.

“Around 60 per cent of our firms appear to have signed new contracts, with a total volume that may reach 100 million US dollars,” said Selami Gedik, secretary general of the Mediterranean Exporters’ Union.

Turkey’s 20 largest fruit and vegetable exporters were at the show this year to meet their business partners from throughout the world, and Gedik expects more to attend next year.

The country exports more than half of its horticultural production, including 2.5 million tonnes of citrus fruit, he said.

Some of the innovations on offer from Turkey included peeled, de-seeded chunks of pomegranates in snack packs from exporter IC-Tahal.
