Voyle leaves Geest - statement

Geest chief executive officer Gareth Voyle resigned last week, a year to the day since the UK’s leading fresh prepared foods and produce company was taken over by Icelandic firm Bakkavör.

Voyle, who had been at Geest for 15 years, was on a 12-month contract as ceo of the enlarged firm, with a view to renewal. Bakkavör cut out a large layer of senior management at Geest earlier this year, in a move designed to increase efficiency. However, Voyle has left of his own accord. A statement said: “After much heart-searching, Gareth feels it is time for him to make a change.”

ágúst Gudmundsson will be taking over as chief executive officer, with immediate effect.
