Tony McKenna, md of Cater Link was responded to a BBC survey published Monday that found a 10 per cent fall in school lunch take-up.

“For too long, there has been insufficient management of the lunchtime routine, by schools,” said McKenna.“Children have been given insufficient time to collect and eat their food. Schools need to consider their own management and control of mealtime arrangements, before laying the blame at the feet of Jamie Oliver and food in general.

“The choice of food on the menu is an important factor,” said McKenna“But what also needs to be achieved is a positive dining experience for pupils.”
