Rosehips could help reduce the effects of inflammatory diseases, new research suggests.

Experts think the berries, which contain high levels of vitamin C, may contain properties to help rheumatoid arthritis, bowel disorders such as Crohn’s disease, and heart disease.

Studies using a rosehip extract showed it helped reduce pain and improve mobility in osteoporosis sufferers.

Biochemist Dr Kaj Winther at Frederiksberg Hospital in Copenhagen, Denmark, said: “ There is exciting evidence that the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant compounds in rosehips might have quite a wide therapeutic effect.”
