Peterson to leave Wal-Mart

Bruce Peterson is to leave his position as senior vice president and general merchandise manager of perishables for Wal-Mart Stores.

The man responsible for the largest volume of fresh produce purchasing in the world joined Wal-Mart when the chain had six supercentres. He leaves its perishables division, and a chain with more than 2,256 supercentres.

Peterson was also very active with the Produce Marketing Association, and spent time as chairman of PMA. He spoke at the inaugural Re:fresh Conference, in 2004.
