Stubbins Marketing Ltd promoted the “Best of British Produce” on May 14, at the Co-op store in Epping. By inviting their local Stubbins marketing salad growers and ‘Tamsyn the tomato’ to the store, Stubbins was set on showing the benefits of locally grown British salad products to the Co-op’s customers.

Amongst a display of their fresh peppers, cucumbers and tomatoes, customers were greeted by the local growers and encouraged to try a sample of the product. “Tamsyn the tomato” was also there offering different varieties of British tomatoes to taste on arrival in store.

Co-op store manager, Steve Savery said: “Locally grown British produce is in demand, my customers are always keen to know where the salad produce is grown and today they can see in store the actual growers themselves.”

Sam Difrancesco, a pepper grower from Stubbins Waltham Abbey Nursery, said: “It is always good to come and witness customers buying the peppers that I grow, it is very satisfying to see the results of my hard work.

I believe customers are very aware that there are real benefits in locally sourced produce in terms of freshness and that it is better for the environment with less food miles travelled.”
