Anglia Business Solutions has announced a further contract for its Microsoft Dynamics NAV based LINKFresh fresh produce business management suite, this time with Portsmouth-based MMD (Shipping Services) Ltd.

MMD, part of the AIM listed business C.I. Traders Limited, is a specialist in stevedoring, warehousing and distribution services. The business occupies a 22-acre site at Portsmouth Harbour, handling over 700,000 tonnes of cargo each year and providing temperature-controlled warehouses, grading, packing and onward distribution of all types of fresh produce destined for the UK’s superstores and wholesale markets. Most of the bananas currently sold in the UK pass through MMD’s facilities.

This new, multi-phase project will encompass the deployment of Anglia’s Microsoft Dynamics NAV based LINKFresh suite to include stock management, warehousing, receipt of goods, purchase and sales order processing, logistics, proof of delivery, delivery charges, rebilling, rental charges, financials, fixed assets, operations, human resources and management reporting.

The first phase of the project to replace the existing ManPack solution is already underway and is worth in excess of £350,000.

“MMD operates in a highly competitive marketplace”, said Paul Tate, financial director. “We needed a solution that will facilitate our growth but that can also flex to meet the changing requirements of our business. We also wanted to work with a partner with extensive relevant industry expertise and a world-class technology platform. The LINKFresh solution will enable us to replace our disparate data sources with one centralised solution. This will provide the business with dynamic access to critical management information, allowing the efficient operation of all of our business units.”

Tate continued: “Through this investment we will also be able to extend the reach of our LINKFresh solution to customers and suppliers, thus offering enhanced services. This will reinforce our position as a leading supply chain partner in the logistics and fresh produce marketplaces.”

MMD thoroughly evaluated a number of other business management solutions against its specific business requirements. Robert Frost, finance director at Anglia Business Solutions explained: “We experienced strong competition in this campaign from other leading ERP platforms. Ultimately it was our proven experience within this marketplace, together with our strong relationship with Microsoft, that won through. A key factor was the extensive pre-packaged fresh produce functionality within the LINKFresh suite, coupled with our fast-growing prestige customer base in the sector.

“This, together with the ability to provide the complete solution from a single source, ensured that LINKFresh was the ideal platform to enable MMD to realise its commercial potential. We are pleased to be working with such a key player in the UK fresh produce supply chain," he added.
