British Car Auctions (BCA) is advocating auctions as a stress-free way to sell off old work vehicles.

The organisation said that business owners who want to sell their vehicles should be aware that the longer the sale process takes, the further the van will devalue.

They also said that there are a number of features that many consumers are looking for when they buy a used van, including hatchbacks, pick-ups, add-ons.

Duncan Ward, BCA’s business development manager - commercial vehicles, said: “When selling an old work van it’s not just a case of sticking a ‘For Sale’ sign in the window and hoping for the best. One of the easiest and quickest routes to sell a van is through auction.

“The process is hassle free and water-tight, with the auction company handling all the pre-sale marketing, appraisal and valuation, vehicle preparation and the transaction itself leaving you to get on with the day-to-day running of your business.”

Ward added that the organisation offers a range of pre-sale preparation services, including trade name deletion, valeting up to retail standard and SMART repair techniques.
