JP Fresh Ltd has announced to its staff that its Bridgwater banana packing depot is to close in the near future. The date is yet to be confirmed.

“This decision has not been taken lightly and a number of options were considered before

coming to this conclusion,” said a spokesperson. “Basically, we’re just consolidating our banana business into two depots, Bolton and Dartford. The business is stable at the moment, but we are constantly looking for ways to drive costs out and consolidate where possible.”

A total of 81 JP Fresh Ltd employees could be affected by this closure and management have entered into a consultation period with those affected.

All JP Fresh Ltd Banana packing business will be handled at Bolton and Dartford, and opportunities exist at these sites for those wishing to relocate, said a statement.
