Foods From Spain is launching its second National Primary Schools Competition this month, as one of the generic elements of its 2008 promotional campaign for Spanish fruit and vegetables.
The competition is open to classes in years three to six at all primary schools in the UK. The children - aged seven to 11 - must produce a collage that represents “healthy eating with fresh fruit and vegetables from Spain” using materials ranging from glossy magazines to dried fruit and nuts. The winning school will receive a cheque for £3,000. The second and third prizes are £1,000 and £500, as well as Foods from Spain sports bibs for year-group winners and runners up. All schools receive a certificate from the Ambassador of Spain to the UK.
Foods from Spain director María José Sevilla said: “The competition captured the imaginations of teachers, schoolchildren and parents throughout the UK, inspiring schools’ own healthy eating events and food festivals - not to mention hundreds of fantastic collages.”
Entry packs are now being sent out to schools.
