FPC delegation visits Liverpool Produce Terminal

Leading fresh produce importers and wholesalers visited the Port of Liverpool to view the facilities of the Liverpool Produce Terminal recently ahead of its first shipment due later this month.

Some 28 members of the Fresh Produce Consortium took a walk thorough the new gateway for fresh produce imports into the north of England, north Wales and Scotland.

The new facility was built by Peel Ports Group and is operated by Go-Associates Ltd. Reefer vessels will be able to berth alongside Liverpool Produce Terminal at Royal Seaforth Dock where they can discharge up to 5,000 pallets of fresh produce directly into the cool store.

After the tour of Liverpool’s facilities, FPC ceo Nigel Jenney said: “This highly informative tour allowed our members to see for themselves the exciting potential for importing fresh produce through the Port of Liverpool, which is conveniently situated to reach 30 million consumers in the North of the UK.

“This facility brings a new approach to importing into the UK and increasing consumption of fresh produce. FPC wishes Liverpool Produce Terminal every success in developing this venture.”
