The third annual Turkish fresh produce trade show, FreshAntalya, is set to follow a succesful year for the country’s export market.

Turkey’s only fresh produced export-geared trade show at the Antalya Expo Centre takes place on March 19 - 21 and comes after Turkey registered an increase of 13 per cent in quantity and 17 per cent in value for exports between January 1st and September 14th 2008.

Last year’s exhibition saw 129 participants and 106 stands had 5850 professional visitors from Germany, Israel, Austria, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, England, Bulgaria, Kuwait, Kirghizistan, Italy, France, Romania, Egypt, Sudan, Ukraine, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Sri Lanka, Slovenia and Turkey hosting stands from countries like France, Netherlands, Israel, Italy, Egypt, Spain.

More than 80 species of 140 orchard and vineyard fruit and vegetable produce cultivated all around the world are grown in Turkey who particularly specialise in tomato production with 10 million tons attaining eight per cent of global tomato production making it third in the world production of tomatoes.

Two million tons of Turkey’s overall tomato production is for tomato paste processing while 2.5 million tonnes of it are for production under protective cover. According to 2007 data on overall world production, Turkey holds 20 per cent of cherry production, 18 per cent of apricot production and 6 per cent of grape production in the market. The also make a big contribution to other lines of world fresh produce production with seven per cent of pepper production, watermelons and melons and four per cent of cucumbers produced in Turkey.

In addition, the producers of Turkey’s fresh produced production and export industry are made up of people who produce consciously using modern agricultural technologies.

The export companies with their culture and know how in the export industry use processing, packaging and preservation techonologies which meet world standards.

Exhibitors will include representatives from the fresh fruit, juice, vegetables, seed, logistics, processing, storage and packaging industries.
