The desert-grown tomatoes are set for a promising season

Israeli exporter Agrexco has announced it has “high hopes” for the country’s organic tomato season.

The Israeli desert has become a key growing region for the product, which the company said harnesses the sun’s rays to create a “striking and tempting red crop of organic tomatoes on the vine with exceptional taste and health ingredients”.

The Carmel-branded product will largely be packaged in 5kg units.

The exporter will be working with varieties Ikram, Jolie, Soffi and Noa, grown mainly in the Arava region but also in west Negev and north of the Dead Sea.

All of Agrexco's growers are accredited to be in compliance with EEC 2091/92 or equivalent regulations. As a result, the cultivation of the organic tomatoes on the vine and their commercialisation takes place under the most stringent quality and safety standards, Agrexco claims.
