Agrexco is celebrating its 25th season handling organic produce.

The campaign kicked off last month with a broad assortment. First off the mark were sweet potatoes, followed closely by avocados, autumn figs, persimmon and the Carmel organic citrus range.

Over the past two weeks, organic options open to buyers have expanded now that tomatoes and capsicum are on stream. Organic herbs and dates are available all year round.

Most product has been grown to programme through careful liaison with Carmel branches and customers.

An Agrexco spokeswoman said: “Agrexco’s policy is to provide its customers with premium organic products. The wide array of organic products consists mainly of special varieties with outstanding taste qualities… Environmental consideration is not limited to the cultivation process. Special attention has been paid to the issue of packaging, resulting in environment-friendly packaging materials, such as brown cartons and reusable containers, as well as decreasing their weight, in some cases by 50 per cent.”

All of Agrexco’s growers, in addition to being certified as organic growers by the relevant export control bodies, operate according to GlobalGAP certification.
