Asda has taken delivery of 150 new refrigerated trailers set to operate throughout the UK.

The trailers have been built in the UK at Schmitz Cargobull’s manufacturing plant in County Durham and will be based in Asda’s regional distribution centres at Skelmersdale, Falkirk, Erith, Bedford, Lutterworth, Wakefield and Bristol.

The trailers will deliver fresh food products to stores throughout the UK, reports freightnet.com.

The trailers have all been fitted with side skirts, to improve the trailers’ aero-dynamics - improve fuel efficiency and the vehicles’ green credentials.

The dual temperature trailers are fitted with Carrier fridges, rear opening doors and run on Schmitz Cargobull Rotos axles with disc brakes.

Nigel Somers, Schmitz Cargobull UK’s regional sales director, said: “We are delighted to be working with Asda. Schmitz Cargobull is a major player in the UK refrigerated trailer market because we offer quality vehicles with the lowest running costs, that are manufactured in an ultra-efficient production facility and backed up by a complete service and after-sales support operation. Asda recognise this and we look forward to working with them for many years to come.”
