Londis celebrates 50th anniversary

Londis celebrated its 50th year in business at the convenience retailer’s annual conference this month.

The company also launched its Londis Fresh brand to improve its fresh offer and discussed how it had implemented extensive change programmes across the business to give the business a strong infrastructure.

Londis also held its the store of the year awards and the gala dinner after the conference.

Among the winners were Geoff and Teresa Turner of Londis in Hemingbrough, who took the title of Londis Small Store of the Year; Terry Caton of Londis in Chesterfield who won the Londis Large Store of the Year, as well as overall title of Londis Store of the Year 2010; and Richard & Lynne Cooke of Londis in Keswick, who took home the Londis Forecourt Store of the Year prize.

Londis managing director Phil Smith said: “I’m delighted with the progress we’re making with Londis brands. The key foundations of our operating systems are in place and the major investment in the physical infrastructure of our supply chain, combined with the development of Londis Fresh and Brand Essentials, mean that we have never been in a better place.
