The World Apple and Pear Association (WAPA) has opened registrations for European top-fruit crop forecast event Prognosfruit 2011.

The event will take place in Ljubljana. Slovenia on 5 August and participants can register at www.prognosfruit.eu

Hans Van Es, COPA COGECA, co-organiser of the conference, said: “Prognosfruit is a well established event in the European apple and pear production calendar. It is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year demonstrating the tradition and excellence of this unique conference. Slovenia as a venue is innovative for Prognosfurit and will allow delegates to discover a new apple and pear destination within the European environment.”

WAPA will announce the apple and pear production forecast and fruit market trends for the EU and beyond at the one-day event. The Prognosfruit conference will also address some topical industry issues.

Philippe Binard, WAPA secretary general said: “WAPA is pleased to be actively collaborating to the success of Prognosfruit, not only by elaborating the forecast, but also by being more involved in the preparation of the conference and event as a whole. This further reinforces the role of WAPA internationally.”

The conference brings together growers, processors and traders from Europe and further afield and is also a valuable networking opportunity for decision- makers in the sector.
