Koppert: Director Peter Maes

Fast-growing biological crop control specialist Koppert Biological Systems is opening a new branch in Greece. The Koppert Hellas office will open later this month in Athens.

Koppert has already been active in Greece for several years through distributor Charantonis, which has recently announced intentions to cease operations. In a statement the Dutch company said it has therefore decided to work directly in Greece.

Peter Maes, director of Koppert’s business unit for Europe explained: “We believe that the Greek agriculture and horticulture sector will develop in the coming years. Greek agriculture and horticulture is quite intensive, and because of the country's climatology this sector can be developed further in a sustainable way.”

Koppert Hellas made a conscious decision to establish its offices in Athens. The logistics in Greece are complex, and it will be easiest to work on establishing a good distribution system from the capital. Charantonis's former agents will be the new distributors in the north and south of Greece, and on Crete, and will make an important contribution to these business efforts.
