Lyndon School enjoyed their sailing prize

A West Midlands school has won the top prize of a day’s water sports in a nationwide competition run by citrus brand Jaffa.

To take part in the Jaffa Sailing Day competition secondary school students were asked to submit a sentence about how they thought the London 2012 Olympics inspired their school. Lyndon School, Solihull was selected as one of five semi-finalists which were each given Jaffa goody-bags filled with new kit and equipment to be used for a sports-day event.

The semi-finalists then had to enter photos of their events and Lyndon students were judged the winners and praised for the effort they put into the day.

They enjoyed their prize learning how to windsurf sail and paddle-board at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy – one of the iconic London 2012 venues – last week.

Shahar Katsir, general manager at Mehadrin, which holds the right to the Jaffa brand said: “We were delighted to be able to give teenagers the chance to engage in inspiring sports, many of which who would not have the opportunity to try normally.

“The Jaffa Sailing Day proved a great success with many students commenting on how they were able to try out new sports and learn skills important for the future.”
