Malaysian-grown Musang King Durian proved to be such a success when it made its import debut in the UK last month that it sold out within weeks of going on sale in Loon Fung stores across London.
Cecilia Ang, executive director at Foods Wise – the Malaysian firm which supplied the fruit to the UK – said: “We are thrilled by its initial market acceptance and will be sending more vacuum-packed Musang King Durian to UK and Europe as we are confident of further demand from this region.We look forward to replenish more stock to Loon fung stores soon, to keep them stocked up.”
Khairul Nizam Moonier, trade commissioner for the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) said: “It’s fantastic to see Britain embracing a very Malaysian product. Love it or hate it, durian fruit has brought attention to the fantastic food products available from Malaysia in the UK.”
