Leading potato supplier Branston has donated money towards major improvements at a park close to its Scottish site in Perth.

Powrie Park has undergone an extensive renovation programme thanks to the support of Branston and various grants and trusts secured by the Abernethy Environmental Association. Branston provided £5,000 for the first phase of the programme last year, and has continued its support with another £5,000 this year.

Branston's support has helped pay for the installation of a zip slide at the site.

Other improvements and additions at the park include a new trim trail, better vehicle access, a new picnic area and benches, a sensory garden and pathway, the planting of fruit trees, and a resurfacing of paths around the park.

Eric Ritchie, general manager of Branston’s Scottish site, said: “We’re so pleased that the money donated by Branston has been used for such a great project which will really benefit the whole community. Feedback from local children and parents has been so positive, and everyone is delighted with park’s transformation.”

The Abernethy Parks Project was established to update and expand the facilities in and around Abernethy’s two main parks, Powrie and Williamson. Its aim is to allow more members of the community to enjoy the benefits of outdoor play and recreation.
