French Agriculture minister Stephane de Foll

The French government has called on Brussels to broaden aid measures for growers affected by the Russian ban to include cauliflower, artichokes and broccoli on the list of products eligible for financial assistance.

Speaking during a visit to producers in Brittany, agriculture minister Stéphane Le Foll said he had also requested that the European Commission simplify the mechanism by which aid is calculated.

Le Foll said in addition to the measures adopted by Brussels up to now, the French government would consider offering additional aid to affected growers which could include allowing them to postpone payment of social security contributions and other taxes.
