Asda Trollies

International Procurement & Logistics (IPL), which buys produce, plants, flowers, wine and groceries for Asda, has raised its turnover and profit.

For the financial year to 27 December 2013, IPL’s turnover was £137 million, up from £113m in 2012, while its operating profit was £12.5m, up from £10.1m.

IPL dealt with 2,059 suppliers in 2013, and its average number of employees increased by 164 year on year.

A spokesperson said: 'The directors are satisfied with the results and achievements, and believe that the future prospects of the company are sound, and consider that the business is adequately financed.

'Turnover increased by 21.7 per cent during the year primarily as a result of increased sales participation within beverages and house, plants and flowers within the UK market and an increase in sourcing groceries for overseas Wal-Mart companies.'
