Distributor and importer Solstor has raised over £12,000 to help fight breast cancer by hosting a family fun day and painting one of its blue and white lorries bright pink.

The AG Thames subsidiary has estimated that the newly painted lorry, renamed The Pink Lady, will be seen by over five million people as it transports fresh, chilled and frozen products across the country, raising awareness for breast cancer research trust The Pink Ribbon Foundation.

“A friend and I had the idea for The Pink Lady after wanting to bring a splash of pink into the otherwise male dominated world of logistics,” said Solstor driver Julie Church.

“It’s amazing to see her out on the road and I can’t wait to spread the word about The Pink Ribbon Foundation and the fantastic work they do. If you see me on the roads please toot your horn in support!”

The Solstor team also recently completed a 100-mile sponsored cycle across the south east of England and have other fundraising activities planned for the next 12 months.

Managing director, Graham Doe, said the family fun day, held on Sunday 19 October and backed by actor Warwick Davis, brought together Solstor and the local community.

“Everyone wanted to take a picture with the truck and there was loads of fun activities for kids to take part in as well.

“The crowd was fantastic and greeted our riders who finished their 100 mile sponsored cycle with lots of support at the end of their ride.”

The company is encouraging anyone who spots The Pink Lady lorry on its travels to send photos or stories to truckphotos@solstor.com, or share on The Pink Lady Facebook page.
