Branston has unleashed rainbows upon fresh produce aisles across the UK.

Packs of the Lincolnshire potato grower's Rainbow potatoes have been launched exclusively in Tesco storesnationwide, and over 12,000 units were sold in the first three weeks of thembeing on shelf.

Each pack offers three different varieties of potato – Bergerac,Cherie and Luciole.

Branston commercial director, James Truscott, said: 'The Rainbow pack is the first of its kind in any major retailer and offers
customers something different to the more traditional products in the fixture.

'Although it seems a very straightforward process, the sourcing, packagingand delivery of three different varieties in one pack is very complex, as wehave looked into everything; from the taste and skin finish, through to storageand shelf life.'

The showcased varieties are:

Cherie potatoes - also grown in France, the variety offers a contrasting redskin.
Luciole potatoes – this variety originates from Germany, and has a whiteskin.

Tesco potato buyer, Emma Williams, added: 'We are always looking to offer our shoppers something fresh andinspirational. Rainbow potatoes are one of a number of new productdevelopments that we have been working on, with more exciting lines set tobe unveiled over the coming months.'
