Waitrose has released a new speciality grape selection.

The retailer's Christmas Speciality Grape Selection will be available until the end of December, and contains three different varieties of grapes, in three different colours and tastes, to match traditional Christmas cheeses such as Stilton and brie.

The three varieties of sweet grapes include Sweet Mayabelle, which is crunchy with a strong muscat taste and goes well with sheep's cheese; Sweet Globe, which is seedless and crunchy; and Sweet Sapphire, which is naturally large and long with a crisp flavour.

Greg Sehringer, grape buyer at Waitrose, said: “Sales of grapes are currently up by a fifth as the nation gets into the Christmas spirit. Earlier this year, Waitrose brought in the new Cotton Candy grape. With a strong hint of candy floss, this grape was the most asked for fruit in 2014 and we are stocking again, exclusively in Waitrose, until Christmas.”
