Cavendish bananas

Another batch of cocaine has been discovered stowed illegally in a delivery of bananas to Europe.

Employees of a distribution company in Groningen, in the Netherlands, found about 10 kilograms of cocaine in a box of bananas on Saturday (24 January).

The packages of the drug were found in the pockets of a thick black vest, which was hidden in the box of bananas. The company transported the box of bananas from the port of Antwerp, in Belgium.

Dutch police are continuing the investigation, and the cocaine, worth nearly half a million euros, has been destroyed.
