Waitrose

Waitrose: Number one with shoppers

Waitrose has been rated as the UK's best supermarket in the 2015Which?Favourite Supermarket Survey, beating off stiff competition from last year’s winner Aldi.

The survey polled 7,000 shoppers on how satisfied they are as customers, and whether they would recommend their supermarket to a friend.

They were also asked to score retailers on pricing, customer service, quality of fresh produce, store-environment, how well-stocked they were and how easy it was to find items.

Waitrose's overall customer score was 73 per cent, and it came top in several categories including customer service, store environment and quality of fresh produce. Aldi, which earned a five-star rating for its pricing, scored 72 per cent, while Iceland, Lidl and M&S were also rated highly.

Ocado came top of the online supermarket table for the fifth year running, despite new additions to the poll from Morrisons and Iceland.

Iceland re-introduced its online service in April 2013 after an eight-year absence, while Morrisons launched its online service for the first time in January 2014, with both retailers rolling out the service across the country since then.

Published in the latest edition of Which? Magazine, the results noted that: 'Waitrose shoppers love almost everything about it - it gets top marks for customer service, store environment and its own label and fresh products.'

Waitrose managing director, Mark Price, said: 'We're grateful to all the customers who voted for us, it's a great accolade and fantastic recognition for the energy and hard work our 61,000 partners put into creating the best possible experience for shoppers both in our shops and online.”

Waitrose was also named Best Supermarket of the Year in the 2014 Which? Awards, as well as Favourite Supermarket in the Good Housekeeping Food Awards last June.
