Nisa has donated £65,000 to over 100 worthy causes and charities based in Scunthorpe and surrounding areas.

Staff at Nisa Retail’s member support centre based at Normanby Enterprise Park, in the North Lincolnshire town chose 124 different charities and good causes which benefitted from £300 each.

The money was raised through the £1.6 billion company’s charity Making A Difference Locally (MADL), which raises money through shoppers purchasing specific products in-store, with a percentage then going into a virtual fund to be donated to worthy causes or charities.

One of the most popular causes was Crosby Junior Football Club, which benefitted from £2,100.

Kate Carroll, MADL charity manager, said: “As one of Scunthorpe’s largest companies, we’re proud to be able to support the local community, and over the years we have donated around £350,000 to the area through Making A Difference Locally.

“We plan to continue to support even more local charities such as Crosby Junior Football Club in order to benefit not only the community, but our future generation to enable them to learn valuable life skills.”

Other Scunthorpe charities which benefited included The Forge project, Lindsey Lodge Hospice, Scunthorpe Beekeepers' Society and Suicidal or Bereavement Support.
