Asparagus

Sainsbury’s stores will be taking its first delivery of British Asparagus tips by the end of this week (w/c 6 April).

The vegetables will be hitting the retailer's shelves upon arrival from a Staffordshire-based supplier, the McGuffie family, based at New Farm Produce in Lichfield.

They will harvest around 280 kilos of British asparagus tips for Sainsbury’s over the course of this week.

Julien Roberts, Sainsbury’s asparagus buyer, said: “We know being able to buy British produce is important to our customers and so it’s wonderful that they are able to enjoy British asparagus as early as Easter.

'The asparagus is handpicked, packed and delivered to store as quickly as possible to make sure shoppers can enjoy the vegetable at its very best.'
