Branston has present a cheque to the Lincoln branch of Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.

The cheque for £12,219.35 was helped by £8,000 coming in for 12 Branston employees who took part in a 100-mile cycle ride through the Lincolnshire Wolds in September, starting and ending at the Lincoln site.

As well as the Branston big cycle, money was raised by various activities throughout the year such as cake sales, cream teas and Christmas raffles, all contributing to the final donation.

James Truscott, Branston MD, said: “We are thrilled to have been able to raise this much money for such a worthy cause. All our fundraising events have been thoroughly enjoyed by everyone at Branston and knowing that we are helping the local community makes it even better. The challenge now is finding a way to do even more this year.

Each year the potato supplier supports a different local charity, the aim being that donations make lasting differences to the wider community.

Di Sykes, chair of Lincoln Sands, added: “Lincoln Sands is immensely grateful to everyone at Branston Ltd for their fundraising efforts in 2015. Our parent members know only too well how precious the brief time they are able to spend with their little one is before saying goodbye.

'The maternity wards at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, do not have a dedicated room for bereaved parents, unlike Lincoln Maternity Unit. We hope to help create some quiet and private space for parents with the monies donated, and will be approaching staff at Boston to discuss this possibility.

'We continue to support Lincoln Maternity Unit, with funding for replacing items in the parentsʼ room, and will be supplying Sands Memory Boxes to the hospitals as needed”

Branston staff have selected Lincolnshire Integrated Voluntary Emergency Services (LIVES) as their chosen charity for 2016 to support the lifesaving work they undertake in responding to emergencies throughout Lincolnshire.
