Pink Lady food photographer 2016 II

The winning photograph

British photographer Mark Benham was crowned this year’s Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year with his 'joyful' shot of a baker having fun with flour while making bread.

Benham was presented with his winners cheque of £5,000 by Coregeo managing director Andy Macdonald at a recent champagne reception held at the Mall Galleries in central London.

The fifthannual awards saw over 7,000 images and films submitted from 60 countries, with Pink Lady as headline sponsor since the first event.

Macdonald said: “As ever, it was a phenomenally high standard, making the judges’ decision incredibly tough. We were delighted to present the trophy and prize to Mark for this wonderful photograph. He is only our second British winner in five years, and it reflects the truly international nature of the awards.”

Judges alongside Macdonald included food writer Jay Rayner, restaurateur Ruth Rogers of The River Cafe, Jamie Oliver’s photographer David Loftus, and Curtis Stone, an Australian 'culinary superstar'.
