Gary Taylor MBE is chair of the AHDB Horticulture Sector Board

Industry veteran Gary Taylor has been given a further two years on the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board as the body opts for continuity in a period of change for the farming industry.

Gwyn Jones, who chairs the AHDB Dairy Sector Board, will also return to office.

Taylor, who has completed his first term as chair of the AHDB Horticulture Sector Board, will begin his second term on 1 October 2016, having been reappointed by ministers in Defra, DAERA (Northern Ireland), the Welsh government and the Scottish government.

AHDB Board Chairman Peter Kendall said: “I am really pleased Gwyn and Gary have been reappointed for a second term. AHDB and the farming industry are both going through a period of enormous change, so Gwyn’s and Gary’s continued valuable input is really important.

He added: “I am delighted that they have both agreed to serve a second term and ensure that we deliver ever greater value for money for levy payers in the coming years.”

Taylor has been in the fresh produce industry for over forty years, working for an Essex salad grower and serving on a number of boards and committees, most notably as vice chair of the NFU Board for Horticulture.

In 2013, Taylor was awarded an MBE for services to the pepper industry.
