Simon Martin

Simon Martin, sales and marketing director at QV Foods, has left the business.

Martin, a well-known figure in the potato and vegetable industries, left QV 'with immediate effect', according to Duncan Worth, managing director at parent company AH Worth. Worth declined to comment further on the reasons for Martin's departure.

Martin is not understood to have moved to another position, and his LinkedIn profile describes his current status as 'taking a well-earned sabbatical with my family'.

A colourful figure often seen at industry events, Martin worked at QV Foods for nearly a decade, helping the business to strong growth. He had previously worked at Naturally Best and FW Gedney, as well as a stint as team director at the Vivaldi racing team. He also helped set up Fresh Approach Produce - later rebranded as QV Vegetables - alongside former Tesco category manager Peter Durose.

Martin remains a board member at Tom Croft & Matt Smith Testimonial, a series of charity events, and is a close follower of the Leicester Tigers rugby team.

Nigel Jenney, chief executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium, said the FPC will discuss Martin's continued involvement - he is vice-president at the trade organisation - at its next board meeting in the near future.

Worth confirmed that responsibility for business development at QV Foods is being taken on by group MD Martin Taylor, with Paul Milner in charge of potatoes, Mark Allmond runnning QV Fresh Prepared and Peter Taylor as MD of QV Vegetables.
