Spanish citrus campaign 2016

Tesco easy peelers were handed out at train stations across the country

Citrus supplier AMT Fruit has celebrated the start of the Spanish season with Tesco by handing out free fruit at train stations across the country.

The PR campaign featured fruit give-aways at London Kings Cross on 18 November, Manchester Piccadilly on 24 November and Birmingham New Street on 25 November.

In total, over 80,000 clementines, as well as Tesco coupons, were handed out to members of the public. In-store activities during the event saw products displayed in specially designed outer cases and citrus fixtures dressed with various props to entice customers.

The event, organised by London-based PR agency Little Big Voice, was returning for the third year since Tesco signed a five-year deal with its main citrus supplier, AMC Group, forming the joint venture supply company AMT Fruit.

Since November 2014 AMT has been Tesco’s main citrus supplier, with Spanish citrus accounting for over half of the total UK market sales.

AMT commercial manager Lorna Norrington said: “We are delighted to once again be supplying Spanish citrus to Tesco stores nationwide. Over the coming weeks we will be showcasing the very best the country has to offer.

“Working with Tesco, we have made the season one of the standout occasions in the fresh food calendar and this year will once again demonstrate our commitment to offering the best produce for customers.”

Spanish Citrus is stocked at Tesco from November to May or June each year.
