Online retailer Ocado is looking to increase its range of organic prepared veg and ready meals and said it expects further growth in the organic sector.

Head of buying Rose Price said Ocado is “happy to work with any suppliers” as it seeks to expand various organic lines.

“We are looking for a better range on ready prepared organic products,” she said. “We have a small range already but it’s not enough.”

Speaking at the launch of the Soil Association's Organic Market Report in central London yesterday, Price said: “Over the next few months you will see our buyers out there looking for these products. We’re also looking to expand in nuts and seeds, as well as ‘healthy treats’ that are under 100 calories.

“Consumers are happy to pay a premium for these products. I see the future for organics continuing to grow, and it will be helped by my competitors joining in, as they have seen consumers want organic.”

Price said Ocado has been on a journey with organics, and “stuck through it thick and thin”. It now stocks over 3,000 organic products and aims to be the place where consumers can fulfil an organic lifestyle, she added.
