Northern fruit and veg wholesaler Almond Catering Supplies has invested £450,000 in a new facility at a growing business park in Liverpool.

The move will see the business relocate from Liverpool’s wholesale market, which itself is due for relocation to Gillmoss, on the outskirts of the city, as well as a major refurbishment project.

Stonebridge Business Park is being developed by St. Modwen, the firm behind the major refurbishment at New Covent Garden Market and London’s Nine Elms.

Almond Catering Supplies’ new 5,117 sq ft unit, which is close to the A580, is one of four being developed for industrial use.The remaining three units range from 10,415 sq ft to 32,452 sq ft.

Jonathan Lowe, consultancy GVA, which advised on the sale, said: “The prominence of the location, on the A580 East Lancs Road coupled with the quality of product, makes Stonebridge Business Park an attractive proposition for occupiers in the market who are considering relocation.”

“We are looking forward to welcoming Almonds Catering Supplies to Stonebridge Business Park,” said St. Modwen development manager, David Nuttall.

“Our confidence in this location prompted our decision to speculatively develop this phase, so to set a new benchmark for a unit sale of this size is pleasing. Now the units are nearing completion, we are seeing a good level of interest in the remaining three units.”
