Julian Pollard

Julian Pollard

Founder of Suffolk food business Scarlett & Mustard Julian Pollard has passed away suddenly on holiday with his family.

Known as Big Bear and Col. Mustard, Pollard was known for handling fresh produce from across East Anglia.

A passionate foodie and sportsman, Pollard is described as a “huge character” who will be sorely missed.

A statement from Scarlett & Mustard said: “It is with immense sadness that we announce the sudden death of Julian Pollard on 20 July while on holiday with his family in France.

“Julian, also known as Big Bear and Col. Mustard, was the co-founder of Scarlett & Mustard with his wife Sandy Ruddock.

“They started the business together in 2012, and it now supplies sweet and savoury condiments and dressings to the UK market and abroad.

“Julian, who made Suffolk his home, was a huge character in every way, a bon viveur, passionate foodie, rugby player and an excellent shot. He touched the lives of many people, and he will be sorely missed.”

Sandy Ruddock said she and the team at Scarlett & Mustard will continue to grow the business and carry it on as a legacy to Pollard.

A service of thanksgiving will take place on 29 September in Framlingham Church.
