Aldi Team GB

Aldi sponsors Team GB as part of its 'Get Set to Eat Fresh' initiative

Team GB Olympic athletes will officially open two new Aldi stores this week and give out free bags of Super6 fruit and veg to the first shoppers in line.

Olympic rower Frances Houghton will be on hand to cut the ribbon in Plymouth tomorrow (19 October), while in Lincolnshire hockey gold medalist Shona McCallin will do the honours.

Shoppers who arrive for the 8am openings will have the chance to chat with the Olympic stars, as well as received goodie bags full of Aldi’s promoted fruit and veg for this week.

McCallin said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be officially opening the Skegness store and I think it’s an exciting step for the local community. As Aldi has sposored Team GB for some time now, I know how dedicated it is when it comes to supporting positive causes across the UK. The RNLI and Salvation Army do fantastic work, and it’s great that Aldi is supporting them in this way.”

Both store openings will also be attended by representatives of local charities that Aldi is supporting, including the RNLI and Salvation Army in Skegness, and Barefoot charity in Plymouth, which works with vulnerable or disadvantaged young people.
