Sainsbury's crates

Sainsbury’s food-to-go products will soon be available from selected WHSmith stores as part of a trial arrangement.

The supermarket chain will supply nine WHSmith stores in airports, railway stations and hospitals with a limited range of snacks and light meals, according to The Grocer.

Salads, pasta, sandwiches, cookies and croissants will be among the Sainsbury’s items available from WHSmith as of next week.

The trial begins next week and if successful, WHSmith could roll it out across more of its store network.

The move is part of Sainsbury’s strategy to work with “new partners to grow our business and respond to rapidly changing shopping habits”, Sainsbury’s director for business development Michael Luck told The Grocer.

It is not the first time Sainsbury’s has collaborated with WHSmith – the stationary shop sometimes gives out vouchers for online shops at Sainsbury’s.
