Alan Christie has joined the board of Anglia Growing Partnership as non-executive chairman.

Christie, who joined the joint venture between AH Worth and Nationwide Produce on 13 August, is a former managing director at G's and has worked at a number of other high-profile horticultural businesses including Wilsons Country, Lingarden and S&A Produce.

Christie is also regarded as a specialist in successful business turnaround and has broad experience in optimising entire business performance, according to AGP. He has also worked on significantly expanding markets and increasing profitability in large FMCG businesses.

“One of the things that attracted me to AGP was that in an industry where there is significant over-capacity, two successful businesses have come together to create an efficient supply chain under one roof which ultimately benefits its customers and suppliers,” said Christie.

Tim O’Malley, group managing director of Nationwide Produce, added: “Alan joined us in the late 90s with the aim to turn around our processing business, Broadacre Foods. Not only did he successfully achieve this but he also helped us sell the business to Lingarden back in 2000. He’s moved on to help turn around and run far larger companies since then. We know him well and are delighted to have someone with his considerable experience back on board to steer AGP at such a significant time for this exciting young business.”

Martin Taylor, group managing director of AH Worth, said: “It is an exciting time in the further development of AGP and I warmly welcome Alan to the board and look forward to working with him”.
