Specialist root vegetable machinery manufacturers Haith Group has unveiled its new £1.5 million factory extension.

The Yorkshire-based company added an 870 square metre extension, which allow the company to assemble their Rota-tip box tipper, Root Veg Polisher, barrel washers and box fillers, to meet higher demand.

Haith says the factory will accommodate further growth of the company, who recently took on ten employees, including project managers, designers and engineers.

Construction of the new building took just 13 weeks, which was officially opened on 21 September by Haith Group founder, 92-year-old Geoff Haith at a ceremony with all 110 employees, including his five sons and daughter.

Nigel Haith, managing director, said: “When my father started in business 75 years ago, I’m not sure he ever thought that the company would grow to its current size and would be spending over one million pounds to extend its factory, but that’s what we’ve needed to do in order to continue to meet demand.

“My father set out to design and build machinery that would meet the needs of his customers, solve their problems and provide them with a high quality, reliable and efficient solution to their problems. 75 years later and our focus hasn’t changed. I think it’s our commitment to designing excellent machines, which are built to last and represent tremendous value for money that has fuelled our growth to such an extent that we simply had to increase the size of our factory.”

The new factory site was designed and built by Robinson Structures, the same company that built Haith’s original facilities, and features a £750,000 BYSTRONIC 8 metre fibre optic laser cutter, a five-ton overhead crane and a range of environmentally-sensitive features, such as LED lighting and the highest levels of insulation.
