Roasted and char-grilled produce specialist Beacon Foods has hired Ian St John as its new product development manager.

Newport man St John, 31, returns to Wales after six years working on major retail brands with United Biscuits. The nutrition graduate of King’s College London started his career as a product development technologist with New Prime Bake before joining Buckingham Foods.

“The main reason for joining Beacon Foods is that I wanted to work for a business where I can make a difference rather than being just a number in a big company,” St John said. “I knew some of the products that Beacon Foods did but had no idea of the full range, which is quite overwhelming.

“Having invested heavily in facilities, equipment and staff, the company is in a really good place and has a lot of potential for growth. I am looking forward to working with customers on their product briefs.”
