The Journal will be joined on its stand at Fruit Focus, on July 31, by the organising committee of the 17th U40s Fruit Growers Conference.

The FPJ is the major sponsor of the biennial event, which will be held in Bologna, Italy, on February 5-9, 2003.

The U40s offers an opportunity for young fruit growers to network with others in the sector, attend seminars covering the major issues affecting their industry and visit Italian operations, to compare and contrast their own practices with those in another environment.

A long list of supporters from all sectors of the industry also includes AMS, Worldwide Fruit, Redfox, Wye Fruit Growers, SGT, Haygrove Tunnels, Nespak, Dow Agro, New Spitalfields Tenants' Association, AFI, NFU, Premier Packaging, UAP and Certis.

'The Journal has been around for 106 years, through many generations of fruit growers,' said md Justin Hope-Mason. 'Our support of this event is a statement of our continued commitment to future generations and our recognition of the need for greater communication throughout the supply chain.' The sole criteria for delegates is that they are aged under 40 at the beginning of the event. The delegate fee is just £195, which includes flights, accommodation and most meals.
