Fingerlimes FLIA 2011 James Boyd

Exhibitors registered for next year's Fruit Logistica and Freshconex in Berlin are being invited to apply for the Fruit Logistica 2012 Innovation Award (FLIA), an annual award presented to honour outstanding innovations in the produce sector.

The prestigious title recognises new products or services that have had a positive impact on the fresh produce industry and were introduced between 1 November 2010 and 31 October 2011.

A panel of experts will select the year's 10 most significant innovations from the submitted entries and will nominate them for the award, which is being presented for the seventh time by event organiser Messe Berlin and Fruchthandel Magazine.

At Fruit Logistica and Freshconex, which takes place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds on 8-10 February next year, over 56,000 trade visitors from 125 different countries will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite innovation, with the winner officially honoured at an awards ceremony on 10 February.

Previous winners of the FLIA include Salanova lettuce from Rijk Zwaan, Vitamini's from FresQ and Rainbow Growers Group, Intense tomatoes from Nunhems, the Sweet Green Pepper from Enza Zaden, the Arils Removal Tool from Mtex, and Limeburst Finger Limes.
