Nelson-based fruit and berry grower Julian Raine has been elected to the board of Horticulture New Zealand.

The recently held grower elections also returned exisiting Horticulture New Zealand directors Ru Collins of Hawkes Bay and Tony Ivicevich of Auckland to the board, according to a report by Radio New Zealand.

Mr Raine, a grower since the early 1980’s, is a partner in Wai-West horticulture, which grows apples, boysenberries and kiwifruit on 140ha. He is also involved in Hinetai Hops, which grows hops and blackcurrants on 70ha of land around Nelson.
