Lance Cornell and Alan Avison: The new wizards of Oz?

Importer-exporter Avicorn is opening an office in Australia in December. The aim is to develop niche opportunities in the UK and the rest of Europe for a wide range of products, from apples and cherries to walnuts and grapes.

The company is already well known for its Field Fresh brand of Tasmanian onions. Joint managing directors of the Avicorn Group, Lance Cornell and Alan Avison, told the Journal: "Our aim is to enhance existing business operations for root vegetables and, at the same time, develop the long-term potential for Australian fruit exports to Europe and beyond."

The new operation will be run by Cornell who will track produce from field to final destination. "By forging close links with our suppliers we will be able to tailor product better to specific customer specifications," he said.
