New Zealand’s National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research has found that climate change is increasing the risk of drought in key growing areas.
The institute’s report released earlier this week found that severe droughts could increase fourfold in the east of New Zealand over the next seven decades.
Possible increases in drought risk were also forecast in Hawke’s Bay and the Bay of Plenty which grow large volumes of top fruit and kiwifruit respectively.
Earliest production zones are reporting a good quality crop this year
While the company is expecting a slightly smaller crop than the wider South African forecast, overall conditions are excellent
