New Zealand’s avocado growers are expecting a record export crop this season.

Industry representatives are forecasting a 2 million tray crop. This is double last season’s crop, according to the Avocado Industry Council.

The season is running some three weeks behind a normal start and fruit will not arrive in the country’s main market in Australia until later this month or early October. Japan and the US are both forecast to receive increased volumes of the NZ crop.
